How To Manage Emotions Like A Boss Lady

ceo lady boss Jan 08, 2019

Do you sometimes feel your emotions get in the way of you being productive in your business?

Well, congratulations on being alive and human in the world of business.
Emotions are completely normal, and being a female entrepreneur, you will be feeling them throughout any given day.
They could range from joy, to fear, to sadness, to excitement—a rollercoaster of emotions can easily come at you and it is only Tuesday.
The challenge, however, is how can you use these emotions to your benefit as a business owner, versus them using you.
As a business owner, you are a leader of an organization. Your organization could consist of one employee (i.e., yourself) or several folks you have hired staff. Either way, you are managing people, even if it’s only managing yourself to start.

Emotions can run high when the buck stops with you to make sure things run smoothly.
Especially emotions associated with fear. If these emotions get bottled up inside, they will get out of hand and end up running your business instead of you.
Because when fear emotions are running the show, they can make business decisions that could negatively impact your business and your life.
To have emotions benefit you in business versus them running the show.  Try the following tip:
  1. Begin to think of all your emotions as employees you would manage.
  2. Assign them to some tasks you would think they would be good at completing, when they start acting up.
For example, whenever you feel nervous, assign this emotion the task to get out a piece of paper and write down what it is feeling nervous about.
This will allow you to feel empowered, because you have allowed this emotion to be expressed on a particular task. Instead of this emotion taking over your day of work.
As well, this will allow you to see what this emotion is trying to tell you.

Maybe while this emotion is doing its writing assignment. It writes about it being nervousness about going to a networking meeting. Seeing this, you could maybe bring a friend to feel less nervous when you attend the networking event.
In the end all emotions are looking out for us, to help us excel and thrive.
Each emotion is there for us to provide insight and knowledge on how we can grow and expand our business. Our emotions are here to support like an extra employee. Assign them an outlet and they could help give you extra insight and knowledge for thriving as a business owner.

Try this the next time you feel your emotions taking over you and preventing you from being productive in your business.
